The Academie Desprez's mission primarily
consists of :
- encouraging the coming together of
art lovers who wish to play a supportive or active role
in the international development and influence of
Drottningholms Slottsteater;
- furthering the development of
cultural relationships between Drottningholms
Slottsteater and France
by the means of individual, collective or institutional
exchanges of know-how and productions or by helping
partnership, this occuring mainly through a
franco-swedish relationship ;
- enhancing the influence of
Drottningholms Slottsteater by emphasising and restauring
the historic links binding it to French culture notably
thanks to publications, lectures, symposiums,
performances and exhibitions.
The association has taken the name of Louis-Jean Desprez. He was an XVIIIth century French
architect and painter called by Gustave III to the Swedish Court.
Besides many architectural achievements, we also have to thank
him for Drottningholms Slottsteater's foyer and the design of a
variety of stage sets and costumes.
