Project : Parisian ballet
in the XVIIIth century
Laureate : Magnus Blomkvist
In
the perspective of reviving links in artistic and intellectual
life, which were, in the Eighteenth Century, between France and
Sweden, an important part of European cultural exchanges, the Académie
Desprez has been founding a system of travel grants.
Those grants allow researchers and practitioners of each country
to travel to the other one, and spend time there for the needs
or benefit of their work. The Académie
Desprez offers to beneficiaries of both countries their
flight, and also, for the Swedish members welcome in France,
thanks to French members, accommodation and accompaniment in
their visits.
In
2000, Lena Dahlström was welcome for one week of work and
research about French Costume of the XVIIIth
century, and one year later Christer Nilsson joined us to
discover more about the Stage Machinery in France in the
XVIIIth century. In 2002, the Académie Desprez
asked Inga Lewenhaupt, Per Forsström and Per-Erik Öhrn to
propose candidates for a new Travel Grant. Inga Lewenhaupt’s
proposal creates an opportunity to work more closely with
Sveriges Teatermuseum. Magnus Blomkvist, who leads a research
about Louis Gallodier, is wishing to come to Paris to get more
information about the first part of the life of Gallodier, before
his arrival in Sweden in 1758.
With
this grant, Magnus Blomkvist is working towards two aims: the
completion of his own thesis about Gallodier, and his
participation to an exhibition organised by Sveriges
Teatermuseum in 2003. Because of the close relationships between
Desprez, Gallodier and Drottningholm, this commemoration is of
great interest for the Académie
Desprez.
